Key requirements
Japan's main AML law. Covers traditional financial institutions plus designated non-financial businesses. Requirements: customer identification, record keeping (minimum 7 years), suspicious transaction reporting to JAFIC (Japan's FIU). The 2024 amendments fully implemented the FATF Travel Rule for crypto-asset exchange service providers and electronic payment instruments providers. March 2026 revised FSA guidelines emphasise risk-based approach.
